Almost any child of the late 1950s through 1970s who visited Yellowstone National Park should recognize this stuffed toy bear cub - it was a popular child's souvenir at the park and in West Yellowstone gift shops for a good twenty years or so.
Stuffed with straw, the plush fur black bear has a red plastic collar attached to a metal chain leash with red plastic hand loop. The original red cardboard string tag is still attached to the collar reading "Souvenir of Yellowstone Park" on the front, "Mafco" on the back. Most of these Mafco bears were about 4 inches high, but this one is large - more than 9 inches long by 7-1/2 inches high. A Japan label is sewn into the back leg seam. I can't tell if the amber and black bubble eyes are glass or plastic, I presume the latter. The bear is in excellent, clean condition with no tears or damage.
