One of two Nelson McCoy hand painted cookie jars I have listed in the shop, both produced from 1939 to 1944, and both pictured side by side on page 73 of the Huxford Collectors Encyclopedia of McCoy Pottery.
This one has a double handled bean pot shape with a fitted recessed lid and double handles at the shoulder. It's decorated with hand painted pink and flowers and green leaves on black. There are no chips, cracks, or flakes, just a little wear to the cold painted decoration, consistent with age. Measurements: 8" high, 9 inches wide across the handles. The jar is quite sturdy and heavy.
