This real alligator leather purse is from the 1940s or early 1950s. It features a taxidermied baby alligator head with glass eyes and all four limbs (legs at the back). The handbag is somewhat square shape with double overlapping flap closures, one for each divided section of the interior. It measures 7-1/4 inches high by 9-1/4" wide. The bottom is 3" deep front to back. The strap is convertible to a longer shoulder strap. Snapped and doubled as shown, there's an 8 inch drop from the center top to the top flap of the purse.
The purse is clean inside and out. The interior has no tears, stains, or damage other than the tiny leather cracks at the uppermost inner fold edges (see last photo, far left and far right sides). The strap has one small partial tear to the upper layer that does not go all the way through or across. There is no damage to the exterior leather and the lacing is all intact.
