Red, black, gold. Knights, conquistadors, galleons, coats of arms. Chains, studs, spikes. Crushed velvet, wrought iron, dark woods. Whether you call it Mediterranean, Spanish, Medieval, or Gothic Revival, it was a very popular style of home decor for a brief period in the late 1970s into early 1980s. This large wall art plaque is from that era - a bronze colored molded plastic Medieval knight on horseback. The background is crushed red velvet on heavy half-inch wood particle board. The picture is framed in wrought iron scroll work.
The plaque measures 31 inches high by 21 inches wide - a little less than 3 by 4 feet. It's in excellent vintage condition with no damage and little age wear - a minor scattering of fine, light oxidation to the iron scrollwork and some scuffs to the wood back is all. The iron framing will easily unscrew for cleaning or repainting if needed.
