Here's a vintage assortment of white lace ladies' handkerchiefs from the late 1940s to early 1950s, all from the estate of a woman born in 1928. The hankies were never used, but lovingly stored away and kept until her death last year.
Three are attached to their original paper liner. They're white cotton batiste with lace edging and palest blue embroidered flowers and nosegays. A ribbon and foil label reading Swiss Style Embroidery is attached.
The others were all stored in the silver foil hanky box. One is a pure linen hankie with hand rolled hem and delicate loopy crocheted lace edging, label attached. Four have no labels but are in their original factory folds: 3 scalloped cotton with white on white or beige-on-white embroidery (all different, not a set); and a cotton hankie with printed white on white dots and crocheted lace edging, also in factory folds. The last item, found in the same silver gift box, is a hand tatted lace flower collar. Tucked inside the box was a hand written card addressed to the recipient with a note from her future husband, with a photo stamp of her graduation picture. Everything is in good vintage condition with no noted damage or stains.
