This antique guardsman or night watchman's clock is dated 1919, made by Eco Clock Company of Boston. As the security guard made his rounds, he'd periodically insert a key into the clock which would stamp the time onto a roll of paper inside, assuring the employer that the guard was not sleeping on the job.
The metal and glass clock is missing the keys and leather strap holder. It's 4-1/4 inches diameter by 2 inches deep and quite heavy for its size. The minute and hour hands are finished in a very reflective metallic blue, probably for easier reading at night. The glass cover has no damage and there is no rust or corrosion.
