An unusual and very attractive vintage yellowware shoulder or crock bowl with a slate blue glaze and unique molded exterior design. The bowl is marked only with the number 10 on the bottom. It measures 10" diameter by 4-3/4" high. The unglazed clay or pottery is a tannish yellow color. The Arts and Crafts style organic motifs in between the stylized zigzag bands look like flowers. When you turn the bowl upside down the motif becomes a moth or butterfly.
The bowl is in very good condition with minimal wear. There are faint light stir marks in the bottom, but most of the flaws are from manufacture: glaze skips and misses, a glazed over line gouge on the rim, and popped glaze bubbles (largest is 3/16", at about 10 o'clock in third photo). There are no cracks or chips.
