This Salem China child's nursery rhyme plate is from the 1940s. It features an illustration of a cow jumping over the moon as the proverbial dish runs away with a spoon. It was likely a retail promotional item, given as a gift with purchase of a baby crib or similar item from a furniture or department store.
The plate measures 7-1/8" and has a red line rim. There are two fleabite chips on the rim and some utensil scratches in the center. Included with the plate is an unmarked 3 inch pottery baby or child's mug from the 1920s -1930s. It has charming decals of Grace Drayton Dolly Dingle style children playing musical instruments on both sides. The cup has a chip on the lower edge of one side and is crazed.
