I have four of these unused Mid Century needlepoint tapestry chair seat and back kits from Austria. Each kit contains two unworked printed floral canvases, one for the seat, one for the chair back, plus the wool yarns needed to complete them. They don't necessarily have to be made into chairs - you can frame the finished tapestries or use them as footstool covers. The 100% cotton penelope canvas is 12 stitches to the inch. This type allows you to mix both petit point and gros point stitches in the same work.

The seat canvas has a design area of 16-1/2 by 17 inches. The canvas itself measures about 31 by 36". The back design size is about 10-1/2 by 13", total canvas measurement is also 31 by 36 inches - plenty of room for a background or chair size/shape of your choosing (just stitch over the pre-printed outlines on the canvas). The kits date to the 1960s and were produced in Austria by Wiener Handarbeit Mills, no longer in business. The packs of wool tapestry yarn are sealed and numbered with the same stock numbers as the canvases. The canvases have a mild musty cedar chest odor.
