This vintage carved wooden tribal is fairly large at 18 inches high by 10-1/2" wide. I'm not sure what culture the figure represents - I'm guessing South Pacific or indigenous South American. I love the facial expression and the bird or turtle head atop the stepped pyramid head dress. The unique uneven grain pattern reminds me of monkey pod, but I'm no wood expert. The upper right back of the mask is signed or marked with the initials UAA. The mask has some age to it but is in very good condition with no structural cracks or chips other than a tiny bit of edge slivering at the back as shown.
