Birth year calendar plates make great inexpensive gifts for the hard-to-buy-for adult. This one is from 1972 by Mount Clemens China. It's 10-3/8" diameter in dark green over creamy white ironstone. The decoration is quite retro - a stylized flower with 1972 at the center framed by four seasonal motifs in tulip shapes (snowflake, flowers, sun face, and leaves). The twelve scalloped flower petals have numeric calendars for each month. Around the rim is a William Browne quote: "There is no season such delight can bring, As summer, autumn, winter, and the spring".

The plate has no damage and is still glossy without scratches or stacking marks. There is faint crazing visible on close inspection. The back is marked with the MCC logo and "Mount Clemens China, Underglaze Ironstone Made In U.S.A., Dishwasher Safe, Detergent-Proof, Oven-Proof".
