A boxed pair of retro 1960s glass and metal Hurricane Candle lamps from David Douglas Company of Manitowoc Wisconsin. The company decorated and marketed lots of 22 karat gold glassware from American glass manufacturers like Libbey and Corning, and also made their own line of Mid Century Modern plastic serveware.
Both the glass chimneys and the metal holders are decorated in 22 karat gold. The two triangular candle holders have brass wire tripod legs and are 8 inches long. With the tubular glass chimneys in place, the total height is about 9-1/2 inches each. The chimneys are decorated with sprays of cornflower, straw flowers and wheat stalks.
The set includes the original unburned 5 inch candles, which have turned yellow from age. There are no scratches or wear to either the shades or bases, though the bases could use polishing just from long term storage in their box. The carton is intact but has some fading and age discoloration as shown.
