My aunt had a pair of these graceful Maddux of California swans in her bathroom when I was a child. Both of hers were black. She had filled one with little pink guest soaps, the other with rolled washcloths. Made in the 1950s, I have one black swan and one white, both with pink highlights. They're about 11 inches high.
The black swan once held water or soil, there's a light sediment line inside. The white swan interior has no sediment or traces of soil. The black swan has a glazed and painted-over nick to the underside of the beak, done during manufacture and visible only when viewed head-on at eye level. There are no chips, hairlines, or crazing. White spots in the photos are reflections.
