This Nelson McCoy stoneware cookie jar is the number 7, first produced in 1939. It's a 6-pint Art Deco ball shape with molded side handles and slanted tab lid finial. The glaze is shiny black, the attractive hand painted decoration is pink flowers with yellow centers and green rings trim. It's 7-3/4 inches high by about 8-3/4 inches wide handle to handle.
There is typical paint wear as shown, very common for this type of cookie jar but not bad at all. The only damage is some flaked chipping around the rim, to the left side as shown in picture 2. It was hard to get good photos with the glossy glaze. The smeary white spots are reflections, not wear or damage.
