This antique red earthenware covered crock was made by Cambridge Pottery of Ohio as part of their Guernsey Cooking Ware line, produced from 1909 to 1925. Cambridge was one of the companies that eventually became Universal Potteries. It has a glossy brown glaze on the lid and exterior. The interior is a creamy white color. It measures about 7" diameter by 3-1/2 inches deep and holds more than a quart. Included is the original double handled, four-foot chrome holder or carrier, pierced around the center with a Greek Key design. The crock is safe for oven use but not stovetop.
There's a chip on the interior ring of the lid (picture 4), smooth to the touch. The crock interior is in better shape than most of this age - a little light crazing but no chips or cracks. The underside is missing the usual stamped mark (or it's too light to see). The chrome holder is clean, bright, and shiny, but one of the brown wood handles is missing one of its two screws.
