This early 1930s paper maché composition angel Christmas tree top decoration was made in Germany for the George Borgfeldt Corporation, a New York importer of toys, dolls, and giftware. (I once had one in the original box which was labeled Gloria Christmas Tree Top). The angel kneels atop a heavily glittered pink globe, her arms folded in prayer, her head slightly bowed. She has delicate embossed gold foil wings. The topper is 8-1/4 inches tall.
The angel no longer has her spiked foil crown or halo. Her wings are attached with a single staple and they are crinkled with one tear, shown in closeup in the last photo. There is missing glitter to the area of the globe below her feet - it's not worn, the topper was made that way. There is no box. This type of tree top decoration didn't usually last a long time due to the fragile materials - other than the missing crown, she's actually in pretty good condition for being nearly 90 years old.
