This antique Victorian wax over composition angel Christmas ornament was made in Germany in the late 1800s. She's a little over 3-1/2 inches long with a curly gold mohair wig and hand painted face. Her dress is a piece of gold, white, and gold metallic lace, original to the ornament. She has delicate wings made of spun glass fibers attached with a small piece of cotton braid. The glue holding the fibers of the right wing has loosened, but the wing fibers are all present and can be re-glued.
The angel is amazing clean and well preserved. Even her hair has kept its shape and curls for more than a century. The face paint is still intact and there are no breaks or repairs to her arms, legs, or body. There is of course a little soiling but it's minimal compared to most angels of this type.
