I wonder what the deal was with chicken decor in the 1950s? Chicken figurines, wall decor, dinnerware, all types of kitchen accessories, and even curtains. Here's a delightful take on the Mid Century chicken obsession: a friendly looking, long necked black crowing rooster ceramic planter from Maddux of California, whose owner, William Maddux, specialized in art pottery birds of all types.
The planter is 12-3/4 inches high to the top of the white comb by about 5-1/2" wide overall. Other than some minor water sediment inside the ringed planter bowl, it's in excellent condition with no damage.
