This 2-1/2 inch American made unsilvered 1940s glass Christmas ornament is from the World War II years. It has an unusual cobalt blue sprayed or flashed finish, and is decorated with a stencil type scene of a cottage in a snow covered winter forest with a full moon and stars in the night sky above. When held to the light you can see a few small flakes or scratches to the finish, which is typical for war ornaments. The metal cap is marked Made in U.S. of A. (manufacturers dropped the word "of" on the metal caps after the war).
I'm including a bonus smaller unsilvered war ornament. The coloring is a different shade of blue, almost violet. The white hand painted decoration is very worn - the petals around the top aren't too bad but the original center stripes are all but gone.
