This antique Hendryx brass birdcage is more than 135 years old. It has patent dates printed on the swing door beginning in 1874 with the last date being 1881. Petite in size, it measures 12 by 9-1/4 inches at the base and is 11-1/2 inches high to the top of the hanging ring. The original wooden perch hangs from the center top, and the reticulated brass seed guard is still present.
The 3-legged iron stand has remnants of the original copper plated finish. It's only 2-1/2 feet high which makes me wonder if it's original to the cage. The cage is clean with no breaks or damage, other than some dings to the bottom of the tray.
